SLICwave® v5.2 Supports GEIA-STD-0007

SENECA — March 10, 2008 — Integrated Support Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce SLICwave support for GEIA-STD-0007 “Logistics Product Data”.  Programs requiring a GEIA-STD-0007 (Government Electronics and Information Technology Association) compliant solution will now be able to achieve GEIA-STD-0007 requirements using SLICwave’s powerful, user-friendly toolset.

SLICwave provides data management support for all new and revised data defined in GEIA-STD-0007 as well as support for all XML data exchange transactions necessary for import and export.  These include full-file replacement as well as changes-only transactions.

SLICwave can now be configured to support GEIA-STD-0007 in addition to MIL-PRF-49506, MIL-STD-1388-2B, ASD S2000M, and Def Stan 00-60. Organizations needing to manage their existing/legacy programs with SLICwave and also needing GEIA-0007 capability can simply add support for GEIA-STD-0007 to their existing SLICwave license.  Data migration utilities enable existing SLICwave project data to be converted and used in support of GEIA-STD-0007 format. This upward capability feature allows organizations to continue working under MIL-STD-1388-2B/LMI requirements as needed and transition to GEIA-STD-0007 as appropriate/applicable.

With the addition of GEIA-STD-0007 support to SLICwave, ISS maximizes the benefits of 0007 -- while minimizing transition costs. ISS had made every effort to ensure a smooth transition to GEIA-STD-0007 while maintaining our legacy of support for other logistics standards.

SLICwave v5.2 will be available in mid-2008. ISS is extending our highly regarded training offerings to include GEIA-STD-0007 with the Fall 2008 schedule.

Summary provided by the Aberdeen Group

Configuration management (CM) problems can negatively impact product profitability by effecting product quality, delaying product launches, and increasing product development, direct product, and product lifecycle costs. Yet companies that are best in class at configuration management hit these product development and lifecycle targets – which drive product profitability – on average 89% or more of the time.

Read this Aberdeen benchmark report to learn what processes, organizational structures, and technologies enable them to overcome the challenges of keeping bills of material (BOMs) accurate and synchronized across the lifecycle and achieve this success...
