In 1984, Dr. Everett Thomas established Integrated Micro Systems, Inc. (eventually to become Integrated Support Systems, Inc.) when he saw the need for dependable supportability analysis software growing. The dream was a computer program that could help technicians in the field make decisions about the maintenance of military equipment, simultaneously cutting costs and increasing efficiency.
